Welcomes Joshua Travis as new Executive Director

Chicago, IL, Release: January 10th, 2021.

Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus (CBGMC) is pleased to announce and welcome Joshua “JT” Travis as Executive Director.

The caucus is charged with leading a unique mission and strategy. As advocates, caucus staff take the lead in addressing social justice and eradicating the health inequities that plague under-resourced and overlooked communities throughout the Chicagoland and beltway areas. Joshua is a nonprofit executive who works with community leaders across the world to develop and implement strategic, community-centered programming. Throughout his life and career, Joshua has learned that grit and courage are necessary attributes we all must develop in order to simply survive, let alone thrive. Joshua’s career has focused on supporting and elevating national and statewide nonprofits including; the Alzheimer’s Association, Children’s Home & Aid, and Youth Guidance.

A skilled process facilitator with extensive education, Joshua holds a Bachelors in Anthropology with minors in Biology, and Criminal Justice from Illinois State University, a Masters in Nonprofit Management from DePaul University, and currently seeking a doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership at Governors State University.

In the role, Travis will lead the overall management of the organization’s operations, resource development, and strategic planning. As Executive Director, Travis will play a key role in ensuring the fiscal integrity and programming momentum of the organization while meeting strategic goals to achieve health equity among Black gay, bisexual, and same gender loving men.
